Unfair Contracts Regime: Lessons from the Frontline

The unfair contract provisions of the Australian Consumer Law took effect on 1 July 2010, in relation to consumer contracts, and 12 November 2016, in relation to small business contracts.  In this program, barrister Anand Shah, from the Carbolic Group Chambers, at the Queensland Bar, reviews the main requirements of the legislation, and the relevant case law, to identify key issues in drafting and reviewing contracts with standard terms, as well as the consequences where a contract falls foul of the provisions.
